Discovery
Before writing a line of code: codebase review, requirements mapping, bottleneck identification. The output is a written technical brief covering architecture options, trade-offs, and delivery scope. You make an informed decision before the engagement starts.
Architecture & API Design
I choose the structure that fits your scale and your team: a straightforward layered architecture for most business applications, more explicit separation when the domain warrants it. Database schema, API contracts (OpenAPI), and service boundaries are documented before development starts.
Development
Iterative delivery in short cycles, with a working, tested, deployable build at each checkpoint. Business logic covered by PHPUnit. CI runs on every commit via GitHub Actions. You have full visibility through your existing project tool: Jira, Linear, Notion, or whatever you use.
Delivery & Handover
Production deployment via your existing pipeline, or one I set up from scratch. I document what I build as I go: API reference, deployment runbooks, architecture overview. A live handover session with your team is included, and I stay available for questions in the weeks after go-live.

Do you work fully remote?
Yes, fully remote by default. I work in the CET timezone, during standard European business hours. Occasional on-site visits are possible depending on the engagement.
Can you join an existing Symfony codebase?
Yes, most of my contracts are team augmentation rather than greenfield. I onboard quickly on existing Symfony applications and adapt to your workflow, branching strategy, and review process.
What is the difference between a senior Symfony developer and a technical lead?
Scope of ownership. A senior developer implements well. A technical lead takes the architecture decisions off your plate: what structure to choose and why, how to set up the CI pipeline, where to draw service boundaries, how to manage technical debt without blocking delivery. With 14 years on production Symfony applications, I cover that second layer.
